Cleve-Land

Kellan got to open some early birthday presents from his G'pa and G'ma Burke, Nortz cousins and Aunt Patty. He was thrilled to get some Elmo slippers and didn't want to take them off all weekend.

We took a trip to Cleveland for a very sad occasion this past weekend. A good friend of ours, Dorothy Sanz, lost her battle to ovarian cancer. Tim grew up with her husband Bob and they have a son, Nicholas, who is 8. We attended the funeral Saturday morning and then a benefit for their family Saturday evening. Tim and his friends had this benefit planned for a couple months to help raise money for them as they have been struggling with all the medical bills. Tim has an amazing group of friends, most he has known and stayed in contact with since elementary and middle school. They really come together for each other in times like these. The benefit turned out to be a great uplifting time for all!
Kellan got to spend some time with his Godfather Mike Alvarez. Mike lives in Columbus and drove up for the funeral and benefit. We hadn't seen him since Kellan's baptism so he was a little shocked at how much he had changed. Kellan eventually warmed up to him when he brought his present out for him. That stinker! It's food or presents that get kids I guess?!
