Finally, our Chincoteague trip has come!! Kellan has been asking to go to the beach all summer. We arrived to U. Jack and A. Gunilla's house around 4 on Weds. and quickly got unpacked. We also had to do some quick toddler proofing since Henry seems to find every breakable object, including the knife drawer. We got our suits and beach bag and headed to the beach, of course. We were surprised how many people were still there, but we also are at Chincoteague during the busiest week of the year. Pony Penning week is when they swim the wild ponies of Assateague Island across the channel to Chincoteague and the Vol. Fire Dept auctions some of them off to raise money. The swim took place before we got there on Weds. Henry wasn't so sure of the loud sounds the ocean made at first, but quickly took a liking to the sand of course. We only spent about an hour or so making some sand castles before we headed back to get some dinner.
Day 2(Thursday): The boys were both up early in anticipation of going to the beach. We first went out for a bike ride around the trail that takes us to the pony overlook. We got immediately swarmed by mosquitos and other large bugs, so made a fast departure. Kellan is no longer interested in ever going back to that spot! So, off to the beach we go for a good day of sand digging, castle building, and water play. Ahhh....
Cutie beach bums!! Henry was very good about keeping his sun hat on the whole time.
Boys being silly before winding down for bed.
Henry loved playing with the fireplace and this rolling cart. It didn't matter that we had brought an entire large duffel bag of toys for them to play with!
