Day 3 (Friday): Another morning bike ride, this time Henry fell asleep before we got back home. That's due to getting up so early or going to bed too late. Combination I'm sure. We biked to the turtles today and avoided the large bugs!
Mommy is ready for the day in her beach chair! Today was really hot and humid. Not even much of a breeze at the beach. We didn't last too long before we were all just too hot and tired. Perfect day for an ice cream cone at our favorite Creamery. Yum!
Tonight we headed out for the carnival after dinner. The Vol. Fire Co. puts this on every year to help raise money. There's a few of the ponies that made the swim and that got auctioned off on Thursday.
It's a carnival, so we had to play some games. Kellan and Daddy played the fishing game and brought home a stuffed fish. The rides looked a bit big and scary for Kellan, so we avoided those. Well, we tried one old fashioned car ride, that Kellan ended up coming off 2 seconds after it started. It was a bit loud and rustic, so not too much fun for my sensitive child!
Day 4 (Saturday): Skipped the bike ride today because we got a later start. Much breezier and more pleasant on the beach today. Kellan found a friend to play with a good part of the day. They ran around together playing with each others beach toys.
This evening we took the kids to the park to play. There is also a pier that many people fish and crab off of. One family had just pulled up two blue crabs, so the boys had fun watching them.
Day 5 (Sunday): Last day for the beach before heading home tomorrow. We were at the beach for about an hour when the kids were kind of fussing and acting like they wanted to go in. Kellan found another boy to play with, so he got a second wind and didn't want to leave of course. We couldn't have asked for better beach weather, other than maybe a bit cooler. It's been in the high 90's all week which is great when you are near water, not so great when you are out and about. Thank goodness for air conditioning at the house! We had many ice cream cones!
Just a cute picture of Henry napping with the crab pillow. This evening we went to the nature center. Even though it was closed, we strolled the long board walk and watched the fiddler crabs.
Overall, a very fun vacation with the boys. Tim and I have always been beach lovers, so we were very excited to take them this year because we knew they would love it too. I can't say it's really a "vacation" for the adults (meaning there isn't much rest and relaxation), but it's so much fun to see them in a different element other then home. They really played well together and we'll look forward to next year!
